     double cosh (      double x );
      float cosh (       float x );
long double cosh ( long double x );

Compute hyperbolic cosine

Returns the hyperbolic cosine of x.

Parameters

x
Floating point value.

Return Value

Hyperbolic cosine of x.
If the the magnitude of the result is so large that it cannot be represented in an object of the return type, the function returns HUGE_VAL, and the value of the global variable errno is set to the ERANGE value.

Portability

In C, only the double version of this function exists with this name.

Example

#include <math.h>

int main ()
{
  double param, result;
  param = log(2.0);
  result = cosh (param);
  printf ("The hyperbolic cosine of %lf is %lf.\n", param, result );
  return 0;
}

Output:


The hyperbolic cosine of 0.693147 is 1.250000.
